Togean Pulotiga sits on Pulo Tiga — 'three islands' — off the northern coast of Walea Kodi near Popoli'i, the last stop heading east through the archipelago. A single row of five simple wooden bungalows runs back from a compact, squeaky-soft white-sand beach into the jungle: thatch-covered tin roofs, verandas big enough for a hammock, four-poster beds with mosquito nets, and tiled bathrooms with Western toilets and cold-water showers. Owner Fadly is the kind of host who serves fried bananas and hot coffee to people who only dropped by to look — Travelfish noted guests come for one or two days and end up staying longer. Days here are snorkeling the house reef off the beach, kayaking, boat trips to the offshore reefs and the photogenic emerald lagoon just west along the coast, and spotting hornbills and tarsiers in the jungle behind. Meals are included and simple Indonesian — lots of fresh fish and rice — and there is no internet or phone signal whatsoever, with electricity reported from about 5 pm.
